Albrecht Durer

The German-born painter is one of the greatest representatives of the renaissance and was noted for his stone prints and engravings.

Albrech Dürer, a jeweler whose father settled in Nuremberg from Hungary, and Barbara Holper, an artist, were born in Nuremberg on May 21, 1471.For a while, Dürer worked in his father's shop in the drawing business. Later, he took painting lessons at the workshop of the Nuremberg painter Michael Wolgemut.
